Where can I find plus size mother of the bride dresses?

Question by osugirl: Where can I find plus size mother of the bride dresses?
My mom is so discouraged that she can’t find a dress for my wedding that is in November. She’s been everywhere, but can’t find anything. She is probably a size 18 or 20, so it makes her options pretty slim. Does anyone know where she can find some dresses that would fit and be flattering on someone of her size?

I am having the same problem with my mother. She is also and 18 or 29, we have found a few that we like on jcpennys website. Also check out dillards online store. Davids bridal also does plus size but my mom doesnt want to pay over $ 200 for a dress. Sometimes though you can find them on sale there. I have just been googling plus size formal dresses, and searching that way.

My mother found her dress (she’s a 5’2″ size 22) at a specialty shop for larger women in Rhode Island (she lives in Massachusetts).

David’s Bridal stores usually carry a decent amount of dresses. Remember a bridesmaid dress can be used as a mother of the bride/groom dress. My mother-in-law bought a traditionally bridesmaid dress from David’s Bridal and wore it to our wedding. It was a different style and color than my bridesmaids. She looked stunning.

You can also do a search for plus size prom gowns and see if she can find one she likes that would work. Or look for military ball gowns…

Try looking online. Remember that usually formal-wear runs small. I would order a size larger than you think and then have it tailored to fit.

my mom is the exact same size and she is dreading looking for a dress! she doesnt want to. she keeps putting it off.

davids bridal has them but ehh not her style. she is also short, (5’3-5’4) and none of those dresses seem too flattering. i want her to wear something fitting and stuff if she wears something long it just doesnt look right.

it sucks they dont give women this size something cute and flattering to wear. do you guys have a dress barn in your area?? they have cute and trendy stuff there and that is where me and my mom are going this weekend.

    good luck and congrats!

Considering her size your mother might feel more comfortable in a suit. My mom wore a two piece outfit from the website I’ll post below. They’re a little over done with the hats (although I tried to talk her into one for fun!) But they have some great sparkly stuff and they’re all on sale and you can get discount codes as well. They also offer formal dresses for plus sized women as well and they are fast about shipping and returns. The good thing about this site is that they build the clothes for plus sized women so they are made with materials that will help hide some not so figure flattering areas. Plus my moms suit was built really well and lined inside and everything. Also, Catherine’s has some really nice formal dresses at their store as does Macy’s. And most of your bridal stores can get any of their dresses in plus sizes up to a size 32, they’re of course going to be more expensive. Good Luck!!!
